The problem with insurance comparison
Most Australian insurance comparison sites have a conflict of interest baked into their business model: they earn more when you buy more expensive policies, they only list providers who pay the highest referral fee, and they use pop-ups, fake countdown timers, and "You're almost done!" pressure tactics as standard practice.
We were frustrated by it. So we built something different.
What we do differently
We rank policies by customer rating and coverage quality — not by who pays us the most. We show you what a policy actually covers in plain English, explain the jargon, and give you the tools to make an informed decision without someone trying to rush you through a funnel.
Our Quote Estimator calculates your risk profile and shows an honest price range before you click anything. Our AI Advisor answers plain-English questions about any category. Our blog explains concepts like LHC loading, MLS thresholds, and PDS documents the way a knowledgeable friend would.
How we make money
We earn a referral fee when you click through to an insurer's site and get a quote. We disclose this on every page. That fee does not influence which policies appear, in what order, or how we rate them. If a provider isn't listed, it's because they haven't partnered with us — not because their product is inferior.
Who we are
Honest Insurance is an Australian-built comparison and education platform. We are not a financial adviser, insurer, or broker. All content on this site is general advice only — it does not take your personal financial situation into account. Always read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) before purchasing any insurance product.
Compliance
We operate in accordance with ASIC's Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO), the Australian Consumer Law, and the General Insurance Code of Practice. If you have a complaint about an insurer, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) handles disputes free of charge.
